Artist's daughter!
Abhishekh Bacchan is lucky, he became what people wanted him to be. Father's son, superstar's son superstar. Everyone knows that my father is an artist and that's why they happen to ask me"do u paint too?" I answer " he didn't pass on "that" gene to me, my brother got that gene" and they smile but they don't realise the pain inside the heart of being indirectly humiliated that being an artist's daughter you cant be an artist. I am really proud of my father whom I have seen working like an idiot to make his painting the best. He loves his paintings more than his wife and kids. He pampers them, he feeds them and finally he just falls in love with them. A father and a lover of paintings. Sometimes he doesn't even realise that he has not eaten food. I wish i could be like that. But, when he is done with some of his best creations he is done then he don't even look at the dried brushes and pallets. Just one similarity with his work and my style of writing. That "blank space"! We both take a break or our minds and hearts take a break from creating creative stuff. And finally I get the name"artist's daughter"... it feels so good to hear that.. the person who said that told me don't take it as a compliment.. I didnt but it felt good that at least in a criticism I was called an artist's daughter.

Yeah.. I am a creation of an artist who takes a break in his works and thus I take a break from writing. I show off that I am not in a mood to.. but the real reason behind lesser blogging and writing was I didnt think much! or maybe i thought about the things I shouldn't or I couldn't have written. Finally I am writing something. I don't know whether people would like this or not but it was just something that came from my heart and certainly for the minds. This might not be related to you but there are times when people start expecting from you that when your parents are something you should be something. I really pity Amir Khan's sons and SRK's kids.. what if they don't have the talent of acting? what if like me their father did not pass them the gene of "acting"( which is luckily passed in me by my father!) these kids will have a hard time then...Hoping for their good future. Not just theirs its about all the children and young adults who go through a stage where people knowingly or unknowingly start comparing them with their parents. what if the child of a farmer wants to become an engineer and what if the artist's daughter wants to become a writer? Think upon it.. We don't want clones in this world, we don't want pressurised and parent made professionals.. we want original, natural and happy beings in this world. Someone with their originality with their own talent and skills who will lead a happy life. How about ending this post by saying the message Amir gave in his film "tare zamin par" ...? "every child is special" ...let us treat them special..

least i can do on my part is not ask my contemporaries if they have the same professional trait/skill/talent as their parent(s).
ReplyDeleteI for one, don't like being asked a similar question based on what my father does.
Tanvi, you are an artist creating visuals with vocabulary :-)
ReplyDeleteBTW artistry is a common in every child... it is expressed differently by different personalities based on nurturing, choice and the passion for pursuing the progression of one's potential...
May your passion for expression... grow and glow! - Pravinda
Bang on! apart from the "gene" theory:P
