Be good! know the best!

Two days back I just opened my secret diary and just thought of writing “good” things about myself. And I tell you people it feels so good to write something good about yourself. I was filled with joys and was smiling alone, my cousin who shares room with me thought that I had gone mad. Maybe I had gone mad. I was crazy about praising myself. Sometimes we tend to appreciate others so much that we forget that even we have something in our self. While studying social psychology I came across a term called “individuation” which means desire to be distinguished from others. An excellent quality that we possess, it is the quality that makes us keep our self different from others. Otherwise imagine, if everyone chose to be same in this world saying that I will be like her or I will be like him, the world would have been so monotonous and boring. Differences add to spice in life. Isn’t? I really like some of my friends who have acquired individuation very well. They are like others but they have their own uniqueness. And the best thing about them is they know who they are and what they have. And I feel knowing yourself well is really important in today’s competitive world. Today, there is so much rush of people trying to achieve something that some who really deserves to be somewhere on the top are left behind just because they don’t know their potential.
Knowing your potentials is as important as knowing your bank account. This might sound silly to many but I can prove the statement. See, if we don’t know how much we have in our pockets we won’t be able to spend properly, either we will end up spending a lot or we won’t spend at all. Same way if we don’t know what our capabilities are we won’t be able to use them where we should. Either we will underestimate our self in many situations or else we will try to show off even when we don’t have the potential.
We had a lovely lesson in our school days of which the moral was that in each individual there is a Ram and there is a Ravan. Ram is the good side of us and Ravan is the bad one. No one is perfect. Everyone has some or the other bad things or qualities. But the best thing is to knowing your good or the best qualities and trying to overpower them on bad qualities. Ram won the battle against Ravan in Ramayana, and it’s always good that the inner Ram of ours always wins. So if you feel that you don’t have any good qualities just search for them in you. They always hide themselves somewhere and when life tests us they seek us. So go people, be good and know the best!
